Make Your Own Polish Paper Chandelier

I'm really excited to share with you in this tutorial how to make your very own Polish Paper Chandelier. It's such a delightful and calming craft that uses sustainable materials - isn't that amazing? I'll walk you through each step, help you assemble the base, and teach you how to create the beautiful paper flowers that bring these mobiles to life. By the end, you'll be absolutely hooked. The best part is that you can customize it with your favorite colors and truly make it your own.

I encourage you to explore different papers, colors, and templates and let your creativity run wild. Throughout the years, I've taught many in-person workshops and I'm always blown away by the incredible ideas people come up with. So enjoy the process and feel free to experiment!

Here's a list of all the materials you'll need to create this Paper Mobile. The materials are linked to websites where you can find them, but if possible, support a local craft store in your area! You might already have most of these things at home.

Now, let's get started!

Materials, you’ll need:

  • Tissue Paper

  • Cardstock Paper (I use 65lb/176gsm weight paper)

  • Circle Lever Punch (I use 1.5 inch)

  • String or thread (I use crochet thread size 10)

  • Rye Straw pieces (soak your straw for a few hours and then cut them in 3cm/1.2 inch long pieces, let them dry on a kitchen towl or in the sun for a few hours before you use them; alternatively you can use paper drinking straws cut into 3cm/1.2 inch long pieces)

  • Needle (anything that is longer than 3cm/1.2 inch)

  • Scissors

  • Gluestick

  • Metal Ring (I use 25cm/10 inch in diameter)

  • Glass rim or circle template

  • Hook or command strip for the ceiling to hang the mobile on while you’re working

Have fun and feel free to share your finished mobiles with me. You can tag me on Instagram @hartmann_paula or send an email to misspaulahartmann@gmail.com. I would love to hear about your creations!
