Spend 8 days with paper artist Paula Hartmann and local travel guide Katrin Schrimpf and explore the artisanal and cultural rich world of Oaxaca, Mexico from Feb 6-13, 2025. Participants will have the unique opportunity to learn the art of paper-making using native plants from Mexican artist Eduardo Santiago Gijón and take part in a paper-jewelry workshop with Paula. There will be several outings to explore the local craft and art scene including street art tours, visits to ancient temples and a class in Oaxacan cuisine. This retreat is the perfect mix of art, play and adventure.
Part of the trip will take place in San Agustin Etla, situated near the renowned art center (Centro de las Artes de San Agustin) which was founded by the famous Mexican artist Francisco Toledo. Then we’ll conclude the stay in Oaxaca City with its vibrant street art scene.
This is an ideal retreat for teachers, art and craft lovers and culturally interested folks. No prior experience is necessary and all workshops are created for beginners.

Paper & Yarn Chandelier Workshop (Lowicz Style) SEPT 14th
In this workshop you will learn how to make a traditional Lowicz-style paper chandelier with a geometric woolen base that is adorned with paper flowers and paper garlands. These mobiles are a traditional folk craft from Poland also called pajaki (pronounced pah-yonk-eeh) and this specific style is from a Polish town called Lowicz which is west of Warsaw.

SOLD OUT | Women Circle: THE DANGERS OF LIVING AN UNCREATIVE LIFE
I'm hosting a small and intimate gathering for women in my living room on Monday, May 27th. We'll be discussing the DANGERS OF LIVING AN UNCREATIVE LIFE and how we can avoid the societal traps that try to convince us that a "comfortable" life is better. I believe this is a dangerous lie that we've all been told.
During the gathering, I'll be serving spiced cacao (yum!) and we'll read an old folk tale called "The Red Shoes" together that talks about these exact traps. We'll also have a discussion on how we can reconnect with our wild, creative feminine nature.

FREE ECO-MOBILE WORKSHOP
Join me for a FREE mobile-making workshop using your own recycled materials at the Goethe Institute Toronto.
Bring your leftover yarn, paper, aluminium lids, beads, straws, fabric scraps and old books and join in the crafting fun. You will learn how to make a mobile out of things you have laying around at home and turn your waste into something beautiful!
