Meet your host Paula
Paula Hartmann is a self-taught mobile maker and crafter currently working and living in Toronto, Canada. In her home studio she creates different styles of mobiles, kinetic sculptures, whimsical installations and jewelry pieces, which are partly inspired by East European and indigenous craft traditions.
A recurring theme in Paula’s work is suspension. She creates light-weight objects which start twirling in the slightest breeze and occupy the space between the earth and the sky. The Toronto Sun described her mobiles as “dancing blossoms in the air”.
Inspired by flowers, celestial bodies and native symbolism, her work is intended to ground people in the present moment, rekindling the senses and offering wonder and healing. To achieve this, she often experiments with child-like and everyday material like colourful pompoms, beads, and paper discs.

Accommodation Tips & Recommendations
Here is some helpful information on booking an Airbnb or hotel for the retreat week.
I haven’t finalized the exact workshop location yet, but it will be within 1 km of my home at:
43 Callender Street, Toronto (M6R 2H2)
I live in Roncesvalles, a lovely neighborhood just east of High Park. Other great areas to look for accommodation include The Junction, High Park, and Bloor West—all well-connected by public transit and beautiful to explore on foot.
Here’s a link to Airbnbs in the area.
If you’re considering a hotel, I highly recommend Gladstone House—
a stunning, artsy boutique hotel nearby. It may be on the pricier side, but they occasionally offer great deals.
Other hotels I found nearby include:
Sonder at The Liberty (I haven’t personally stayed at these, but they could be good options!)
Of course, there are plenty of hotels in downtown Toronto as well. If you stay near Queen Street, you’ll have easy access to the streetcar, which runs every 10 minutes and takes about 25-35 minutes to reach Roncesvalles.
Let me know if you have any questions—I’m happy to help!
Highpark - a ten minute walk from Roncesvalles
Roncesvalles Village - the homy neighbourhood in Toronto
